Overview:
The U.S. 175th Infantry Regiment was to spearhead the 29th Infantry Division's advance on Isigny; and Company A was to lead the 175th. Lieutenant John Allsup was not at all pleased with his company's role, and he was barely encouraged by the assignment of five Shermans from the 747th Tank Battalion of support his boys. But with the experienced tanker Lt. Erickson in the lead tank "Daisy", the column made good time and by 0800 was past La Cambe and had yet to encounter any opposition. Suddenly, machineguns opened up to the right and slugs went skipping off the pavement.Attacker: American (Company A, 175th Infantry Regiment and 747th Tank Battalion)
