Overview:
The survivors of the morning battle in Stoumont were fleeing west, covered by tank fire. Peiper wasted no time sending a probing force forward, on the heels of the retreating Americans. A few Panthers with Panzergrenadieren on halftracks rolled down the road toward the railway station, beyond the small Targnon hamlet. When the first Panther pointed its nose around a sharp bend in the road, it was immediately hit by a powerful 90mm shell fired by an AA gun. . .Attacker: German (SS) (Kampfgruppe Peiper)
