Overview:

Fitful action was still in progress on Aka on the morning of March 27. The 3rd Battalion of the 305th isolated seventy-five Japanese who were dug in on a ridge and its reverse slope and were fully supported by mortars and automatic weapons. After a period of aerial strafing, bombing, rocketing and mortar fire, the Americans drove the enemy from their position into the brush.
