Overview:
The events of the beginning of September were moving at a breakneck pace in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian government denounced its role in the Axis and immediately started disarming the German troops in their borders. In some area, the Germans peaceably complied, while in others the two forces battled very hard. In Vakarel, one German column came under fire from the Armored Regiment of the Armored Brigade. A severe firefight broke out . . .A small rear echelon German unit is surrounded. The Bulgarians have to destroy their vehicles.
