Overview:
U.S. forces had Manila surrounded and pushed the defenders into the southern center of the city. Battered elements of the Japanese 5th Naval Battalion were assigned to defend the government building area of the city. The U.S. 37th Infantry Division and 1st Cavalry Brigade were assigned to clear the Japanese from Manila.
