Overview:
After the appearance of enemy troops became known, desperate calls for help were sent by the Hotton garrison. They were heard and promptly responded to. Captain Mize sent a Task Force from Soy, commanded by Lt. Smithers. The arrival of this small force was greeted by a few mortar rounds, but no damage resulted from the enemy fire. At the same time a platoon of panzergrenadiers appeared from the direction of the Bois des Hys and infiltrated into houses along the river, near the mill. Passing by the knocked-out Panthers, Smithers' leading Sherman engaged into the Rue.Attacker: German (1st Battalion, Panzer Grenadier Regiment 60, 116th Panzer Division)
