Overview:
The Soviet 11th Guards Army was closing in on the German forces in the area of Orel and threatening to annihilate the 383rd Infantry Division. The commander of the Ninth Army sent Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung 653 to restore the rapidly deteriorating situation. Leutnant Heyn deployed his few Elefant tank destroyers to defend against the inevitable Russian tank assault. The Elefant crews did not have to wait long. The Soviet 1st Tank Corps struck the 383rd Division on its boundary with the 292nd Infantry Division.Attacker: Russian (117th Tank Brigade and 1437th SU Regiment, 1st Tank Corps)
