Overview:
On 28 June, Army Group Center ordered that Group von Saucken was to form in the gap between Fourth and Third Panzer Army. Saucken's primary mission was to prevent a further Russian advance to the Berezina River. General von Saucken's main fighting force was Panzer Division 5, which was ordered to destroy enemy spearheads to the northeast of Borisov. The battles to the east of the Berezina continued with the 3rd Belorussian Front attacking to force crossings of the river. Elements of the 29th Tank Corps' Forward Detachment reached the Berezina on 29 June. Five Russian tanks were spotted moving south of Zembin. Panzer Division 5 sent roughly a company of tanks and panzergrenadiers to meet the developing threat.Attacker: Russian (Reinforced elements of 29th Tank Corps)
